Neurofibroma

Clinical

  •           Arise from Aurbach’s plexis in subserosa
  •           Sites (in order of frequency) - jejunum, stomach, ileum, colon, mesentery
  •           Usually single
  •           Multiple small bowel neurofibromas occur in 25% of patients with von Recklinghausen’s disease (neurofibromatosis type I, autosomal dominant)

Radiological

  •           Smooth, rounded, sessile or pedunculated masses
  •           May ulcerate (target lesion)
  •           Multiple neurofibromas - eccentrically aligned along one border (antimesenteric)
